Welcome to my food and wine blog in Cape Town - Taste With Tara !

Hey there. I’m Tara-Louise, originally from the United Kingdom, but my parents packed us up to live in Cape Town, South Africa when I was just 7 years old. South Africa (and in particular Cape Town) has been my home for most of my life... and what a beautiful city I am privileged to have grown up in.

I am super passionate about food and wine, and yes! I am one of those who elicit raised eyebrows from those at our table at a restaurant... as they want to start eating... but I need to take a photo of the food first :)

My favourite thing to do is visit different places, restaurants and in particular wine farms where I can experience unique wines and amazing cuisine. Wine Pairings also rate highly in what I enjoy doing, as well as picnics on a warm summer day, and of course a great food and wine pairing.

I started this journey of food and wine a while back, and have decided to create Taste with Tara in order to share my experiences with like-minded people. I work for a large corporate company and am asked every Friday “so which exciting wine farm will you be visiting this weekend?”, “Can’t wait to see your pics on Facebook”, and on a Monday morning I’m asked “where do you find all these amazing places you go to?” – it’s gone as far as colleagues and friends regularly asking me for recommendations of places to take both local and overseas visitors to, as I enjoy hidden gems just as much as well-known places.

From fine dining, to cheese and charcuterie platters, to a great breakfast on-the-go, I will be reviewing various eateries and wine farms in my food and wine blog in Cape Town and beyond, and I look forward to having you here with me on this exciting journey.
